A Morning in Missouri

Posted by: Maddy I thought I would share some pictures Mom took one morning here. Its foggy most mornings and then clears up closer to noon. Anyway, I thought some people would like to see these!

Apple Butter Day

Posted by: Maddy Today we went to annual Apple Butter day put on by the Mennonites to raise money for their school. It was so neat! They had camels, train rides, homemade ice cream, breakfast, lunch, baked goods for sale, and an indoor auction. There are so many auctions around here. It was great. The Mennonites are great people to be around. We have gotten to know some of them already, so it was nice to see people we already know and meet other people too! This is more like a photo journal! :)  Us eating breakfast   This the the huge copper kettle that they made the apple butter in  Train rides This is an ice cream maker! Pretty cool huh?

The Guineas

Posted by: Maddy I thought I would share with you some photos of the all grown up guineas. They are free to wonder all over the property but they don't go that far. They like to hang out around the chickens and the turkeys. They are so funny to watch. They all stay together and have their little conversations while walking somewhere. At night we put them in a little chicken hutch in our front yard. They are very easy to herd in at night. We held them when they where little so that they wouldn't be afraid of humans, but they are afraid of us anyway. So much for that. Anyway, now I know what they look like as adults. Their feet have orange on them! So this is them out eating bugs and doing their exploring. Here is them in the hutch when they were much younger

Quick Update

Posted by: Maddy Time has been flying around here and I just realized how long it's been since my last post! We have been keeping really busy around here with school, animal care, chores, and most importantly, getting ready for the arrival of our new little sister in 2 weeks!!! We are really excited for that. Friday we got a little glimpse of what winter is like here. 60 degrees is a lot colder here than it is in Colorado. But the cooler weather has been nice compared to the high 90's and 100's here. The average temperature has been in the 70's which is perfect. We also got a huge downpour of rain later last week. That was something else to see. But we sure needed the rain! We got our male dogs fixed last week to keep them from wandering from the property and looking for other stray dogs. We still are trying to teach them to stay in the field. Maggie and Lizzy ( our female puppies ) are in the fencing with the rams so we don't need to worry about them wander
