Winter Shots

This week Missouri actually got the kind of snow that Colorado gets!!! We got 6 inches of snow and it has snowed about 2 inches everyday this week except for yesterday. Today we are suppose to have an ice storm. I thought we were done with this extreme weather, but I guess not! Since this much snow at one time is pretty unusual for Missouri, all the schools around us were closed all week! So Dad got the week off of work too. Even though the roads are challenging to travel on, all of the snowing and blowing has made for some great sledding. We have been having a blast playing in the snow that we have missed the rest of this season!

Taking care of the animals is more challenging with the snow. Its so exhausting just walking around in this snow to get to the animals. Thankfully, for the most part, everything is close to the house. The pigs are the only ones that are farther away. The birds don't like this weather. The chickens stay in or close to the egg mobile all day. This makes putting them away at night very easy because they want to go in anyway. They really don't run from me in the snow. They just go right in! I wish the chickens would cooperate like that year round!  The guineas are tolerating it. They don't go exploring during that day like normal. They hangout in our front yard or on top if their pen.

The dogs don't seem to mind the cold weather at all!

These are our Anatolian Shepherds trying to play with the cows! Dad named them Churchill and Eisenhower. We call them Church and Ike for short. They sure don't look like brothers. Church looks like a husky and Ike looks like a lab!

I guess we won't be having any fires for awhile.....

No, egg production really hasn't gone down at all!
We had this many eggs by 10 AM this morning!

PLEASE let me in!!!

Memories From March

Hello all! We're back again! Man, what a busy month! Several birthdays, fun events, farm life, and everyday happenings! Shall we begin? This month literally started out with Norah turning 11! Here's just a few of her birthday photos!  This year, Norah requested a doughnut cake! Two doughnuts a person! Let's just say we all felt horrible that night. Loading more pigs up  Isaiah still doesn't know what to think of the sheep Izzy and Mr. Grumpy Gills  Katherine started riding a two-wheeler bike, with a little help from the training wheels! She could totally be a model!  Chick season has come around the corner...again! This will always be a favorite!  They make for good pets...when they're little anyway!  When you don't have a tractor and you need to seed the fields...  ...and chop broom grass down When Mom's not putting the food in your mouth fast enough  Meet the new bull calf, Demitri! ...

Izzy's 12 Year Old Pictures

Now that Isabelle has been 12 for a month now, I finally got around to getting her pictures done! This post will be short and sweet and a big long one will be coming soon (hopefully)!

JULY

Hello everyone!!  Hope you all had a great July!! :) Ours included a 4th of July celebration, a brand new litter of 10 pigs, stocking up on hay for the winter months, a gun safety course we three older ones went through, a chicken butchering day, topped off with Ava Park fun with friends, a trip to Silver Dollar City, and creek fun!  Shall we begin? Our enthusiastic grill major for the 4th of July. I’m not sure about her, but the food was a 5+ rating! Can’t get more patriotic than this picture *wink* Whenever friends stop by for a visit and bring a cake,  there will be no complaints here!….Until everyone gets a sugar high. In honor of the 4th, I’ll share one of my favorite quotes: “Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. Thank them both today.” Ended the night with a bang, like (I’m assuming) everyone else did! And the very next day,… 10 of ‘em born on the 5th....
