I know, this one is late. Life happened and yeah, you know how it goes. Anyway, here is how September went!
(This may be the longest blog post yet!)
It was that time of the month to stock the freezers up again with chicken! This would go under the category of not-so-fun.
I had to cut up all the chicken. Fun fun. ;)
Our quality control crew
Our chicken comes in all different sizes! Honestly I have no idea how that happened. They were all the same age. That was a first to get a 1lb chicken. Amazingly people bought them though :)
And now we are all stocked up! Farmers' Market here we come!
Anna has the touch!
Pose for a sunset picture
The photogenic one
Life advise from Katherine. When life gets stressful, go lie down on a piano bench.
You'll never guess what we did for labor day! We labored........ loaded lots of hay, hauled it back to our place, stacked it and went back for more. (also the not so fun part)
falling over because they were laughing so hard
Picture time! Izzy and Anna are goofballs
According to Metropolitan Farmer, the definition of a farmer is: One who is outstanding in his field. Congratulations Anna! Your a farmer!
All loaded up and ready to go home
And then this happened on the way home. Thankfully we made it home!
She's a good little helper
We took more pigs to the butcher. We sure have done that a lot this year.
Loading went a bit like this. Sorry its blurry. You can see Anna hiding behind the door. After 2 1/2 years of living here she is still scared of the animals.
This year I got a summer job bagging fruits and veggies for a Personal Shopper Program at the farmers market.
What it looked like when it was done :)
Anna has been really artistic with her photos lately. This is from the town that we live in.
This was an art project I drew for my Grandma's birthday this year. I finished it last month, but I couldn't say anything about it until I gave to her this month.
All framed and ready to wrap
Any guesses on who this is?
For everyone's birthday, Izzy always puts out pictures of them from when they were born to the present day. These are pictures of Anna when she was little were so cute! Anna is now a teenager!
They were making the banner for Anna
Applesauce making day. Anna chopped while Katherine ate! They made a good team ;)
I filled this whole pot up! It was my first time to make applesauce by myself. It turned out pretty good if I do say so myself!
More throwback pics
13 years old......
Fun times on the rides!
It's only fun though if you are outside of the stroller
Happy Birthday Anna! For her birthday we went to Silver Dollar City.
All decorated for fall there. Its pretty neat how they made horses out of corn stalks.
Powder Keg! Guaranteed to blast you every time!
This is Peyton's favorite ride
"Yes Anna, for your birthday you have to wear your birthday badge".
This place is one of my favorites in MO! I love Branson!
When your tired after a fun day at the amusement park
Farmers' Market of the Ozarks had a art competition for a new T-shirt design. This was my idea.... It probably won't win, but I thought it was worth a shot! (people really aren't my thing to draw)
And the next day is was off to Colorado for 2 weeks! The day I have been looking forward to since... well, really January. Yeah, a long time. (this was the really fun part of the month!)
Isn't this just the sweetest thing?
Mom and Katherine took us to the airport. Last picture with her before I left.
You can tell I don't fly very often. When I do I always have to take pictures when I am on a plane :)
Final destination! DIA! (Denver International Airport)
Hello Colorado! It's good to see you again!
Anna was enjoying her first day in Colorado!
Sister pic in front of the old family farm on my mom's side of the family (Moore family farm).
Park pics
The next day we took a scenic drive through Red Rocks
Pretty awesome
Anna loving it
Really loving it! It was good to see mountains again!
Gotta get a pano of Red Rocks!
Selfie with Grandma
Then it was on to Living History Days that the pastor from our church in Arvada puts on in the fall time. It worked out perfect that we were in town when it was going on! We got a picture with some friends there!
An after church picture with some of the people I have missed the most since moving to Missouri. It was so nice to see all these guys! It has been a long 9 months since I last saw them.
Sunday afternoon a bunch of family members came over to see Anna and I. This is our second cousin hanging out with Anna. She has gotten so big since I saw her last!
And now for the day I have been looking forward to for a really LONG time! 14er climbing day! I have been wanting so bad to go climbing again since the day I did my first set of 14ers 3 years ago. I went in the summer of 2013. Then the following winter we ended up moving to Missouri and ever since I have really wanted to go, but the past 2 years it just hasn't worked out. So when it finally did this year I was thrilled! It was so good to spend the day with the Oggs, and Richelle! Caution! Lots of hiking pictures to follow!
The beautiful mountains!
Anna and Rebekah taking a break
Selfie with Mary and Richelle
Mary
Group picture about half way up the first mountain
Grays or Torreys
You choose
The Frog Rock.... it looks like one anyway
Another pano...
Cool background
Part of the Rivera Family that went with us
Selfie with Mary :)
And we made it to the top of Grays Peak! The view is amazing when you are 14,000 ft up!
Grays Peak-14,278 ft.
Life is a mountain, not a beach
Taking a lunch break at the top.... one more mountain to conquer before the day is over!
More views.....
The best view always come after the hardest climb
Richelle and Rebekah
Anna and Hannah at the top. The guy in the background was from Missouri too. Random, I know ;)
We did it!!!
Last picture before heading down. After this, the Rivera family left and it was just us 6 girls left. So for the second mountain it was the first time I had ever been on a all girl hike. Non of us even realized it till we were almost back to the parking lot at the bottom :)
And then its on to Torreys!
That would be this mountain right here
Another beautiful view
Anna's shoes started falling apart on her about half way up the first mountain. She had to take a break pretty often to get rocks out of her shoes. lol!
She had a good attitude about it
You can't have too many pictures of this view! Its a lot of work to get it!
Sitting on top of the world. This really is a wonderful feeling. To just sit back and enjoy the view after a hard but fun climb. It started feeling like life was back to the way it was before the idea of moving to Missouri came into the picture. Priceless.
Anna made it! Victory!
Torreys Peak-14,275 ft.
Mary on top of the world
One last pano.
Enjoying the view
It's a long way down!
Personally, I think a 14er is the best place to take pictures!
My twin and me. Everywhere we went in public we got asked if we were twins. One of these days I should say we are.
Heading back down, but first Anna had to re-tape her shoes
Everyone had to take pictures of her with her taped up shoes
Little bit of fresh snow, but not too much
The gully's of Torreys. Can't believe some people like to ski down those.
This rock looked cool
On the way back down
Torreys. Pretty tall!
Getting closer...
Now you can only see Grays
So close....
We made it back to the creek. Anna and Richelle decided to have a competition to see who could keep their feet in the really cold water the longest.
I think she won!
One last picture of the Continental Divide
And then back to the van and time to head back home. Only we had yet to find out that we still had another adventure to go through before we made it home. Stay tuned.......
We were driving on the dirt road that leads the trail head to get back on the main highway when we ran into this problem. I don't think a 15 passenger van is going to fit past this car parked so carelessly on the narrow part of the road. Rebekah jumped out to see if the van would make it past the car. But, it wouldn't.....
What do we do?
Why is this here? Illinois people.......
Only one thing to do... admire the aspen trees that are around us!
So then this guy pulls up behind us and sees what's going on. The only option besides rolling the car over the cliff was to move the car over. No, I am not kidding. This all really happened! So this guy's wife and him helped us move the car over. 7 girls and 1 guy moved the car! That's a bragging right! I will never forget this day.
There we are, moving the car over! Yep, we took pictures the whole time. We started to feel like we were in that scene in Fireproof when the firefighters moved the car off the railroad track.
We thought we would leave a note on the car. Then we all signed it. Thanks Pete and Barbie for helping us with that! Good memories.....
What Anna's boots looked like at the end of the day. Haha!
My souvenirs from the hike :)
2 days later we went through some of the show homes in a area where they are building new houses.
Anna said she could get used to a huge bedroom like this!
Well, really the whole house!
You can even do ballet in your room! lol!
Totally Anna!
Welcome to Anna's office
Anna with Grandma on the outside
It's Golden!
I see Jeff Alan has been here.....
Some photo's of Anna now that she is 13
Thank you!
Last picture of Clear Creek, I promise
Then is was time for a drive up to Estes Park! No, you didn't see the last of mountains yet.
Isn't that just gorgeous?
One of my favorites
Mt. Meeker
Random cloud that looked like a rainbow
And more mountains!
I think we chose a good time of year to come out
I love aspens!
We found another Peak View Farm in Estes Park! Good idea for a sign
And more mountains! Sadly, there was no time to go hiking this trail
Shoppers
Estes Park is pretty neat!
Then 2 days later Anna and Grandma left for Israel. They are still there and I am looking forward to hear how the trip went! I stayed in Colorado another week after Anna left, but the first week was definitely the most eventful. I will probably have Anna do a blog post or 2 about it!
So that's about it for September!
